What's included in a car deep clean
A Detail Valets Deep Clean is the proper baseline most studios call a "full detail" elsewhere. Every panel and surface gets attention, the car comes back to you genuinely clean rather than surface tidy.

Car interior deep cleaning: seats, stains and smells
The interior is usually the reason people book. Fabric seats hold years of spilled coffee and dirt worked deep into the weave, carpets trap sand and mud, and a car that has carried a dog or a couple of kids tends to smell of it long after the last trip. A vacuum and a wipe round doesn't reach any of that, which is why the inside gets around two hours of the day on its own. If the outside is fine, interior car valeting covers the inside on its own from £130.
How the inside is cleaned
The mats come out first, and the whole car is vacuumed top to bottom, including under the seats and in the boot. Fabric seats and carpets are then steam cleaned, which lifts the grime out of the fibres with far less water than a shampoo soak, so the seats aren't left sodden. Leather is cleaned and conditioned rather than just wiped over, the mats are deep cleaned or shampooed, and the vents, switches, stalks and cup holders are worked with detailing brushes, because that's where the grime you actually notice tends to sit.
What comes out, and what might not
Everyday dirt, food and drink marks, mud, sand and most musty or doggy smells come out as part of a normal deep clean. Jonathan's Kia Picanto had rear seat stains he'd lived with for years, and they're gone. Some marks aren't dirt, though: dye transfer from jeans on light leather, cigarette burns, bleach marks and fabric faded by the sun are damage, and no amount of cleaning will reverse them. Dan will tell you on the day which is which, so you never expect a result that isn't possible.
Headliners, spills and smoke
Roof linings are spot cleaned rather than soaked. The fabric is glued to a board above your head, and too much moisture can loosen that glue and leave the lining sagging, so it's cleaned carefully where it needs it. Exterior deep cleaning: decontamination, wheels and protection
A wash on its own only shifts the loose dirt. What dulls a car and makes the paint feel rough under your hand is the contamination bonded to it: tiny iron particles from brake dust, tar flicked up from the road, and a film of traffic grime that clings on however often it goes through a car wash. The exterior half of a Deep Clean deals with all of that, then protects the paint so it stays cleaner for longer.
The van carries its own water and power, so the full wash happens on your driveway.
A wash that doesn't add scratches
Most swirl marks on a daily driver come from washing, not driving. The car is foamed and pre washed first, so the heaviest dirt runs off before anything touches the paint, and then it's washed by hand with the two bucket method, grit guards and a soft wash mitt, never a sponge or a brush. The wheels, arches and door shuts are cleaned before the paintwork, so the dirtiest water never goes near your panels.
Decontamination: the step a normal valet skips
After the wash, an iron fallout remover goes on the paint and wheels. It reacts with embedded brake dust and turns purple as it dissolves it, which is usually the moment people realise how much was sitting on a car that looked clean. A tar remover then lifts the black spots along the sills and behind the wheels. The wheels are cleaned face and barrel, not just the spokes you can see, and the tyres are scrubbed before they're dressed.
Engine bay, glass and protection
The engine bay is cleaned and the plastics dressed where access allows, so lifting the bonnet no longer shows a layer of road dust. The glass is cleaned streak free inside and out, trims and rubbers are dressed, and the paintwork is finished with a six month protective sealant. The sealant makes the car easier to wash and helps water run straight off, and it holds its gloss far longer than the wax you'd get at a car wash.

What a deep clean won't fix
A Deep Clean leaves the paint clean and smooth, but it won't remove swirl marks, scratches or dull, oxidised paint. Those need machine polishing, which is what Paint Correction is for. If Dan spots paint that would benefit from it, he'll mention it on the day, and there's no pressure to book it.

A Deep Clean is a complete reset, inside and out, and it follows the same careful order every time so nothing gets rushed or skipped.
Assessment
I start with a walk round to note the car's condition and work out exactly what it needs before I begin.
Wheels & pre wash
The wheels, arches and shuts are cleaned down first, then a pre wash is applied to soften and lift the loose dirt before anything touches the paint.
Safe wash & decontamination
A hand wash using the two bucket method with grit guards and a soft mitt, never a sponge. Iron fallout remover and a tar remover then lift off the bonded grime an ordinary wash leaves behind.
Engine bay clean & dressed
The engine bay is cleaned down and the plastics dressed, so it looks as cared for as the rest of the car.
Interior deep clean
The inside is vacuumed throughout and steam cleaned, with the plastics, vinyl and trim cleaned and dressed, the glass cleaned inside and out, and the seats and mats shampooed.
Protection & finish
The paintwork is sealed with a six month protective sealant for lasting shine and easier upkeep, and the tyres are dressed to finish.
Final inspection
A walkaround in good light before you get the keys back, so you can see it up close and nothing's been missed.

BeforeAfterIs a car deep clean the same as a full valet?
Not quite, and it's worth knowing the difference before you compare prices. "Full valet" has no fixed meaning. For a lot of valeters it covers an exterior wash, a hoover, a wipe of the dash and a tyre shine in an hour or two, which is fine for a car that's already in decent shape.
A Detail Valets Deep Clean goes a good deal further. The paint is chemically decontaminated with iron and tar removers, the wheels are cleaned face and barrel, the engine bay and door shuts are done, the fabric is steam cleaned rather than just vacuumed, and the paintwork leaves with a six month protective sealant. That's around four hours of work, and it's where the price difference comes from.
When you're comparing quotes, ask what's included rather than what the service is called. If only the inside needs attention, the Interior Deep Clean covers the full interior process on its own.

How much does a car deep clean cost in Manchester?
A Deep Clean is £195 for small to medium cars and £225 for large or XL vehicles such as estates, 7 seaters and full size SUVs. If only the inside needs doing, the Interior Deep Clean is £130, or £150 for larger vehicles.
A genuine amount of pet hair adds £50, and every price is fixed and agreed before we arrive.
How long does a deep clean take?
Around 4 hours on site for a standard car. Larger vehicles and very dirty cars run a little longer. The process splits roughly half exterior, half interior, and we work to a finish standard rather than a clock, so if a car needs a bit more time, it gets it.
What's the difference between a Deep Clean and a Showroom Detail?
A Deep Clean is the proper baseline reset: full decontamination, full interior, every surface dealt with. A Showroom Detail goes further again with extra exterior work (paint enhancement, dealer wax removal on new cars) and a finer interior finish. Most weekly driver cars are best served by the Deep Clean.
Do I need to be home during the deep clean?
No, as long as we have access to the car. Plenty of customers leave the keys somewhere safe (key safe, side gate, or with a neighbour) and head off to work. We send a quick text when we arrive and another when we’re done, and we’ll walk you through the finish over the phone if you can’t be there in person.
What about pet hair, sand, or kids' mess?
All covered. Pet hair gets its own removal step with a rubber brush, a drill brush and a high power vacuum, and where there’s a genuine amount of it rather than the odd bit, there’s an extra £50 for the time it takes.
Sand from beach days, baby food and dropped snacks are all part of a normal deep clean. Spills, sick or anything that has soaked into the seats is priced once Dan has seen the car.
Can you get a smell out of a car?
Most everyday smells, yes. Musty, wet dog and old food smells usually come from dirt trapped in the fabric and carpets, so they go once that’s properly cleaned out.
Smoke, mould and damp are different, because the cause has to be dealt with rather than just the smell. Get in touch with a short description, and Dan will tell you honestly what’s possible before you book.
How long do the seats take to dry?
Not long. Steam uses far less water than a traditional shampoo, so fabric seats are usually dry within about two hours. On a cold or damp day, leaving a window slightly open or running the heater for a while speeds it up.
Do you clean engine bays?
Yes, the engine bay is included in every Deep Clean where access allows. We give it a careful clean and a dressing as part of the exterior process, so the whole car comes back looking after rather than just the bits you see day to day.
Do you need water and electricity at my address?
No. The van carries its own water and a generator for power. An outside tap and a plug socket help where available and we’ll use them, but they’re not required. We can detail on a driveway, in a private parking space, or at a workplace, as long as there’s room to work around the car safely.
Can I book a deep clean as a recurring service?
You can, but the better option for regular customers is usually our maintenance membership. One Deep Clean resets the car, then lighter scheduled visits keep it on point season after season, costing less than a full Deep Clean each time. We’ll talk you through both options on the day.
