Why dog hair won't hoover out of a car
Dog hair doesn't sit on top of the carpet. Short, coarse coats in particular work into the weave every time the dog shifts about on a journey, and the boot carpet in most cars is a tight looped weave that grips it. A household hoover pulls up the loose layer and leaves the rest behind, which is why the boot still looks grey after you've been over it twice.
Getting it out means loosening the hair from the fibres first and then lifting it away, section by section. It's slow, careful work rather than a quick once over, and that extra time is what the pet hair charge covers.
How the hair comes out, step by step
The same careful order every time, so the hair comes out of the weave rather than being pushed further into it.
Loose hair first
Mats out and a first pass with a high power vacuum to take away the loose hair and grit.
Loosen what's woven in
Every seat, seam and the boot carpet is worked with a rubber brush, and a drill brush on the tougher carpet, which drags the embedded hair up to the surface where it can be lifted.
Lift it away
Vacuumed again as it lifts, a seat and a section of carpet at a time, so nothing gets pushed back into the weave.
Steam clean the fabric
Fabric seats and carpets are steam cleaned. Steam lifts the dander and grime the hair leaves behind, which is where most of the doggy smell lives.
Final check in good light
A last look along the seams, seat runners and boot edges before you get the keys back.

Keeping the hair under control
A boot liner or a fitted seat cover does more than anything else, because the hair collects on something you can lift out and shake off. Going over the seats with a rubber brush or a damp rubber glove once a week stops the hair working back into the weave before it has the chance to settle.
If you'd rather not think about it at all, the Maintenance Plan brings Dan back every four weeks, so the hair never builds up again. It starts from a freshly cleaned car, so it follows on naturally from this.

How much does it cost to get dog hair out of a car?
It’s an extra £50 on a Deep Clean or an Interior Deep Clean. With pet hair, an Interior Deep Clean is £180 for a small to medium car and £200 for a large or XL vehicle, and a full Deep Clean is £299 or £329. The price is fixed before we arrive.
Can you get the dog smell out as well?
Usually, yes. Most doggy smells come from hair, dander and dirt trapped in the fabric, so they go when that’s cleaned out. If the smell comes from something that has soaked into a seat, send a photo first and Dan will tell you honestly what’s possible.
Will every single hair come out?
The seats, carpets and boot will look and feel clear. A few hairs stitched into seams or tucked deep under trim can hide, and we’d rather say that now than promise a car that has never seen a dog.
How long does it take?
It adds time to the day depending on how much hair there is. An Interior Deep Clean is around two hours before any hair removal, and Dan will give you a realistic time when he quotes.
